Summer Reads-for the adult in the teacher

Whew! Summer has taken us by storm-or by many storms this past month if you live in Chicago! The summer rain has been a blessing in disguise; strumming against the glass of my windows, it has lulled me back to my reading corner. A good thing, too, as my stack of  "fun" books to read has grown during the school year, while my stack of "work" books has dwindled down to two children's books.

I recently was privileged to read Attitude of Gratitude by MJ Ryan. This little book has reminded me of the joyfulness of gratitude and the blessings that gratitude brings into your life while empowering, inspiring, and fostering a daily practice of gratitude:  resulting in a truly nurtured Spirit and the innate ability to awaken daily with a Smile. I definitely recommend this quick read as you lay by the pool, curl up as it rains, or white you sit on the L. Check it out!

Another great read is Charles Linden's STRESS FREE IN 30 DAYS! with the school year upon us we could all use some tips to de-stress and play. Linden does a great job of breaking up creative techniques to de-stress your life, such as the ppp method and the work time/ you time method. However, some techniques are unrealistic such as getting a weekly massage: don't we wish this fellow teachers? Overall Linden has provided readers with an extensive list of ways to de-stress their lives and form the habits for a successful STRESS-free life. The book is a great quick read for a hot afternoon and there's a bonus! a sweet plus of Audio CD magic!
So close that bathroom door and sink into the tub of bubbles and throw on the CD that accompanies this book to enjoy some calming visualizations... go on- You know you want to de-STRESS!

These are my own opinions and I was not compensated for the review of these titles.
